Westhills Construction Update: Temporary Detour
Construction of the Willows Phase 3A has now commenced. Part of construction involves excavating and rebuilding a significant portion of the intersection of Cartwright Street and Cartwright Terrace to tie in the sanitary sewer and water mains for the new development to the west.
Local traffic to 201 and 301 Cartwright will be maintained, however the detour plan has been updated to no longer close the north leg of Cartwright Street completely. Traffic entering 201 and 301 will access from the south but traffic leaving 201 and 301 will have to exit to the north such that we have one-way traffic only all both legs of Cartwright Street.
The detour will take effect Tuesday, August 8th for a period of two to three weeks.
Part of the intersection construction will also include the installation of a temporary overland water line to continue service to 201 and 301 Cartwright Terrace as the water main in the street will have to be turned off for the duration of construction. The water quality will not be affected during this time.
The temporary water line has already been partially set up and will be put into service the week of July 31st as the Contractor requires five days to get it chlorinated and tested before putting it into operation on the morning of the closure.
A construction access directly off Cartwright Street prior to the curve and away from the residential properties has been constructed such that construction traffic will not have to travel through the existing community.
